All legislators should vote yes for my bill, Statewide Rental Assistance, because it would create an equal land share for the people and give anyone the opportunity to live on a property that they can call home. A main question a person might have is: am I eligible for rental assistance and what are the possible benefits of this program? It grants a separate account in the housing development fund. And eligible persons could include an individual or family whose annual income is up to 50 percent of the area's median income and is adjusted for family size paying 30 percent of the individuals or families annual income on rent. This grants the individual guaranteed payments on half the rent from the government depending on how many persons you are choosing to claim in your household. However eligibility is determined at the time an individual or family receives assistance under this section. This does not include individuals or families under Section 8 of the United States Housing act of 1937.
Another benefit of this program is grants to local housing authorities, up to determination of these authorities can provide alternatives best suited to the service area in which it administers rental assistance, the agency must approve of local housing authority procedures before moving forward. The amount of rental assistance is a key factor in determining how much rental assistance and eligible persons can receive, local housing may provide tenant based or project based rent assistance to an eligible persons in amounts equal to the difference between 30 percent of household income and the rent charges, plus an additional allowance for utilities if not included in rent. Housing authorities may not allow assistance to a person who is more than 30 percent of household income and 110 percent of the applicable fair market rent for the location and family size of the eligible persons.
In conclusion, you should vote yes because it would provide an opportunity for low income families to provide a life for their children and families. It would also put people in less debt as they already might have. Without housing nothing in life will go right, it is meant to save housing stability. It would help in preventing homelessness around the state, promoting home ownership through first-down payments programs. Shlah Johnson says “Therefore, I support the housing stability act because many single mothers like me are trying to improve our life by receiving funding to go to college.” This proves that some people are struggling financially and are being put under pressure by landlords by upping rent and taking advantage of their power within ownership. This program would make it easier for homeowners to approach homeownership with an easier resource to fund their rent with this assistance. Having the government pay the majority of the payments needed with the hopes of having a stable home they can look forward to keeping.
