Essay
Hello Chair and Committee Members, thank you for the opportunity to speak today. My name is Pavouar yang and my bill is about the parental curriculum review, bill number HF3122. Minnesota parents are having difficulties accessing curriculum materials and they want to know what their kids are being taught in schools. There are times when schools are not giving out full details on what they’re teaching kids about and it can be concerning for parents. There could be school subjects that parents are not comfortable with their child learning, such as:
- culture/religous
- Political views
- LGTBQ
What the bill does:
- Makes it easier for parents to see the curriculum and act if they have any concerns
- Helps build trust for both parents and school
Conclusion:
This bill helps parents to review information by the school, know what materials is needed, and know what their child is learning and allows there to be alternative instruction when parents request it.
Thank you.
