What is my bill about?
The bill i chose is bill HF3136, my bill is about establishing a task force to prevent female genital mutilation, the task force would be responsible for. Developing strategies for prevention and education, raising public awareness abut the harms of FGM, providing resources to protect children/victims, the bill would include funding for the task forces operations and activities.

What is FGM?
FGM involves the partial or total removal of the external female genitalia and is considered a violation of the human rights of women and girls. Research has found that the most effective, Bondo-free ceremonies are still those facilitated by the Soweis. This practice has lasted for centuries and has gradually become part of the broader population.
Things to help prevent?
By creating a task force and providing resources, my bill aims to improve the coordination of efforts, research, and services to stop the practice of FGM, which is a serious form violence and child abuse against children. The law already prohibits performing FGM on a minor for nonmedical purposes and recent acts, like the STOP FGM Act of 2020, have strengthened these prohibitions.
