Essay
My bill, known as the Children's mental health programs modified, and money appropriated, would be extremely helpful because this generation is specifically concerned on focusing on mental health. This bill will give the people who are aged 20 years or younger who are found to be eligible for unassisted transport related to mental health treatment, so we need to provide that for the young adults and children. This also would help families in meeting their children's needs, including accessing needed mental health services to support the parent in caregiving , navigating health care, social service, and juvenile justice systems. Legislators should vote yes on HF 0669 so that children under the age of 20 can attend to their mental health needs, access necessary transportation to do so and support caregivers as they support their young people.
Transportation is a big issue because people may not be able to drive, have access to transportation, or money to afford hired transportation. People who are able to drive but have mental health issues can be overwhelming. “People living in more rural communities also face transportation access issues. In-patient mental health supports are extremely limited in the more rural areas of Minnesota, if available at all. Without a family member or a friend to help support their travel to a program with bed availability, mental health supports remain out of reach.”

Managing your mental health will help you cope better, have better communication, and improve your relationships. You'll have better sleep, and your eating habits will be better meaning you'll have more energy in things you do.
Covid was a huge problem because people were afraid of being infected, coping, grief from the loss of loved ones, financial problems, stress, depression, and loneliness. Young people lost the ability to communicate about how they feel after Covid. This leads to depression and anxiety.
Mental health services help the Caregiver and children stay healthy and manage stress. Caregivers learn how to cope better, and get support to understand their feelings. This helps build stronger relationships.
When both caregivers and children receive help, families become stronger. Caregivers can give better care, and children feel safer and more supported. Overall, mental health support builds a more stable and positive relationship and household.
