1.1          A bill for an act
1.2          relating to consumer protection; requiring children's outerwear to include reflective
1.3          material;proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 325F.
1.4          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5          Section 1. [325F.076] REFLECTIVE CHILDREN'S OUTERWEAR.
1.6                          Subdivision 1.Definitions. (a) For purposes of this section, the following terms have
1.7          the meanings given.
1.8          (b) "Child" means a person under 12 years of age.
1.9          (c) "Children's outerwear" means a clothing product primarily designed or intended by
1.10       a manufacturer to be used by a child in the outdoors.
1.11                       Subd. 2.Requirement. A manufacturer, wholesaler, or retail establishment is prohibited
1.12       from manufacturing, selling, offering for sale, distributing for sale, or distributing for use
1.13       in Minnesota children's outerwear that does not include reflective material. Reflective
1.14       material must make up at least ten percent of the surface material of the children's outerwear.

Essay

Kids have been getting sick more lately. About 46% of children get sick from going to school without wearing a coats, jackets, hats, mitten, etc in the winter. Many middle schoolers doesn’t wear their jackets or anything they were just wearing their shirts, crop tops, teen tops, shorts, and many other things from the summer time. Many kids thinks being cool kids won’t get sick. Many kids have died from the cold and many people should think how that can efface their child from getting sick. So my bill should pass for Reflective Children’s Outerwear.
