Governor's Address

2024 Governor

Fellow Students,

I want to begin by expressing my heartfelt gratitude for your trust in me and my Lieutenant Governor. It is truly an honor to have been elected to serve you, and I am deeply appreciative of the support and confidence you've shown in our leadership.

A big thank you to all School Advisors and Winona State students for being amazing leaders and teachers. Also, a Thank you to Winona State for letting us all have this amazing opportunity. The biggest Thanks to Gene Pelowski for helping us and supporting us the whole way through.

I also want to take this moment to thank each and every one of you for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to strengthening our Model Legiatsion. Your efforts are the foundation of our collective success, and together, we will continue to build on that foundation for the benefit of all.

The first bill we passed was HF 0110, which allows individuals as young as 16 to preregister to vote. I strongly support expanding access to voting, and I believe this legislation is a step forward in encouraging greater civic engagement among young people. It's my hope that in the future, more teenagers will take part in the process and have their voices heard. We vetoed HF 0017 SF0168 because their was no dollar amount to be appropriated.

Those are a couple of the bills we had passed and failed. All the bills we received were great bills.

I want to Thank everyone for supporting us and Thank you Winona State again for this amazing opportunity.

Thank you, Gov. Carter
