An increase in Medical Assistance reimbursement rates for ambulance care is essential to adjust for the growing costs and pressures on emergency medical systems. This will specifically help services in rural and smaller communities. Because of factors such as inflation, increasing gas prices, and costs of medical equipment and training. This bill was made to help providers keep up with the cost of everything. not only will it allow for ongoing services to be maintained with ought needing to reduce the availability of these services but EMTs and Paramedics will be paid better. This will help reduce shortages and overall will make sure people can get the help they need in emergencies.
The main concern with this bill is that it could cost the state a lot of money. Because we are in a time where the state has so many other demands for funds this may cause a financial burden on the state’s medical assistance program and taxpayers. A key factor is fuel prices as they are very high and could continue to rise. Another problem is this may cause other health and human services to suffer because there are less funds to go around. Lastly a lot of people are skeptical and wonder if this is the right way to do things. Will the extra money that is being put into these services really improve ambulance services or will it just raise the overall cost. This perspective shows the bill could create risk with no long-term proof of better services.
