This bill is about making worse penalties for people who decide to transfer guns to ineligibleillegible people. The penalty that can be received is a felony if they transfer a pistol or a military-style weapon to someone they know. With the felony, you can face 2 years in prison and up to a ten thousand dollar fine. What they considered ineligible were those denied a permit to carry and people found ineligible by law enforcement.
This bill would help public safety by requiring officials to report on gun seizures, which can lead to better strategies. They updated what a trigger activator is; it is a device that makes a gun that shoots one round of fire faster. With the penalties being higher, people will be more careful about whom they transfer guns to.
I think the bill is good because it can help with the amount of guns going to the wrong people and leading to deaths. With the penalties, fewer people are willing to transfer guns to people illegally. This bill should be able to reduce gun violence.
There could be public backlash on the fact of this messing with gun rights. The other issue could be that law enforcement could take away the ability to be able to have guns. This also might not change anything if the laws aren't enforced. People could still illegally transfer guns.
