Essay
My bill states that we should establish Firearm safe storage standards established and criminal penalties provided for failing to meet those standards, and money appropriated. I think that this would be a good idea because by doing this it keeps those guns out of children's hands who don’t know how to probably handle a gun and could hurt themselves or even someone else.
This bill could also help by keeping guns out of school shooters hands because most school shooters get guns from their own home or one of their relatives. I feel like this could save so many lives and prevent deaths of incent children and teachers. An example is of a recent shooting where a boy named Colt Grey had guns available at home and mixed with mental problems caused him to shoot up his school and killing 4 innocent people.
And suicide is also a big problem with this because According to a 2021 study, 44% of individuals who attempt suicide decide to do so in less than 10 minutes so if we had these precautions it could help the person think about what there doing and safe their own life.
Because people can argue that if they were to get there gun taken away for not following this law that it is against the right to bear arms and that would mean that we can't take there guns away. Another is that gun laws usally don’t work and people just don’t liston so there just isnt a reason in doing it.
