Pro: Declawing a cat is like if we were to cut off our fingers, so why would we want to cause that pain onto an animal? When you declaw a cat, it can cause later infection if there is loose stitching, making the cat feel immense pain in their paws, and can cause death of the surrounding tissue in the paws. It also causes back pain, as their nerves in their paws are connected to the nerves in their back. Another problem with declawing is that when cats are in pain, some resort to biting as they don’t have claws to protect themselves if they feel like they’re being attacked or provoked.

Con: When declawing a cat, not all the time it will end bad. If you have a cat that scratches a lot, and can cause you pain, it would be beneficial to declaw the cat as they wouldn’t hurt other people if they come around, especially if the cat is territorial. When it comes to territorial animals, they can become aggressive to protect themselves, and their home, so that would be another reason as to why declawing the cat would be good.
