Pro-Con Essay
The HF 5463 bill would take money from natural resources and redirect it into making
playgrounds more accessible for children. Community crossroads says that increased playground
accessibility allows for kids of all shapes to come together and socialize. If kids in wheelchairs
have to bring their own equipment to play it would make them feel left out and even more
different than they already are. Its a fact that humans are social creatures. Good relationships and
connections have have already proved to be an essential part of happiness, fullfillment, and
longevity. According to an article published by The Chicago Lighthouse playground accessibility
is essential for young kids to socialize and make new friends. The playground stands out as an
essential part of a childś development and overall wellbeing so why wouldn´t we want to invest
in it?
While HF 5463 might seem like a no-brainer it is important to consider the downsides.
These fancy accessible playgrounds arn´t free and someoneś going to have to pay for it. This
money draws from the natural resource fund which supports Minnesotaś trail systems, streams,
state parks, and other natural resources according to the MN DNR. Minnesotanś are proud of the
the natural recource conservation and won´t appreciate any of that being taken away from them.
These pockets of natural are a central piece of human wellbeing and it would be inhumane to
take them away. While trying to help the cripples may be a noble cause it certainly doesn´t come
with drawbacks that shouldn´t be take lightly.
