Essay
My bill would make it law for insurance companies and our government to pay for or further contribute to the payment of insulin pumps, CGMs and glucose meters among other supplies you might need to monitor diabetes. According to ‘The Burden of Diabetes in Minnesota’ around 9% of the whole adult population in Minnesota has been diagnosed with diabetes, which is more people than in the whole city of Saint Paul! If a diabetic doesn’t have access to necessary supplies their health can be put in danger and in some cases they can even die. Why should we condemn people to deal with the consequences of a disease that they can’t really control? I believe that the passing of this bill would help many people and families throughout Minnesota.
