In the bill I chose, it states that public schools are prohibited from having practices at certain times. I think that this is a good bill because it is good for people who go to public schools to have a break from any activities that are through school during winter break. According to Miracle Math News, “Winter break is a time that aids in refreshing the mind, the body, and the spirit of students. Students that are refreshed are found to experience higher levels of success in school.”
When students have a long break from school, it helps them to concentrate more in school after break because they are not as stressed because they have had a reset. Also having a break from school lets them have more time at home with family or to work. According to Northern Illinois University, “They can help you exercise your right brain, give your prefrontal cortex a break, improve your memory, and help your brain produce dopamine.”
Another good thing about having a break from school and practice is they get a chance to have time for themselves. According to the Moco Student, “Having a break gives students a chance to step away from stress and stop thinking so much about grades and assignments and start thinking a little bit more about themselves, recharging in many ways including through the vital action of sleep.” In school kids get a lot of homework and as they get older the more stress they have because of grades and assignments. So, when kids are in extra activities after school and they have practice, it wrecks the whole purpose of having a break from school and stress.
Having no practices over break can also be a bad thing. It can be bad for students because, for example, when you're in a sport or doing any physical activity and you don’t practice it after a while, you can lose your ability to do it or lose muscle tone if you don't keep working out at home or doing physical activities. According to Abbott, “ Your active heart rate may increase, and you may lose some endurance. The body starts to undergo biological changes in muscle size.”
