1.1          A bill for an act
1.2          relating to health; authorizing minors age 16 or older to consent to nonresidential
1.3          mental health services;proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter
1.4          144.
1.5          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6          Section 1. [144.3431] NONRESIDENTIAL MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES.
1.7          A minor who is age 16 or older may give effective consent for nonresidential mental
1.8          health services, and the consent of no other person is required. For purposes of this section,
1.9          "nonresidential mental health services" means outpatient services as defined in section
1.10       245.4871, subdivision 29, provided to a minor who is not residing in a hospital, inpatient
1.11       unit, or licensed residential treatment facility or program.
