1.2 relating to capital investment; appropriating money for acquisition and renovation
1.3 of a facility to provide assistance to South Asians in Brooklyn Center.
1.4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. SEWA-AIFW; APPROPRIATION.
1.6 $2,856,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
1.7 of employment and economic development for a grant to SEWA-AIFW, Inc. (Asian Indian
1.8 Family Wellness), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to acquire, predesign, design, construct,
1.9 furnish, and equip the renovation of a building at 6645 James Avenue North in Brooklyn
1.10 Center to serve as a facility providing refuge, family wellness services, and other assistance
1.11 to South Asian immigrants and refugees.
1.12 EFFECTIVE DATE. This section is effective the day following final enactment.
