1.2          relating to arts and cultural heritage; appropriating money for the Twin Cities Jazz
1.3          Festival.
1.4          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5          Section 1. APPROPRIATION; TWIN CITIES JAZZ FESTIVAL.
1.6        $75,000 in fiscal year 2025 is appropriated from the arts and cultural heritage fund to
1.7          the commissioner of administration for a grant to the Twin Cities Jazz Fest to promote
1.8          Minnesota-based jazz artists at the 2024 Twin Cities Jazz Festival.

Essay

Twin Cities jazz fest is the largest annual free music event in the Twin Cities. This is a family friendly event that largely takes place at Mears Park in downtown Saint Paul. This bill, should it pass, will grant Twin Cities Jazz Fest $75,000 to promote Minnesota-based jazz artists at the next jazz festival. Funding for the jazz festival will undoubtedly increase foot traffic thereby supporting the local establishments in downtown Saint Paul. By voting yes to this bill, hence enabling the grant to the Twin Cities Jazz Fest, you are personally helping to bring our once great capital to its previous glory.
