1.1          A bill for an act
1.2          relating to education; prohibiting admission fees at public school events;proposing
1.3          coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 123B.
1.4          BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5          Section 1. [123B.491] ADMISSION FEES PROHIBITED.
1.6          An admission fee must not be charged for any event in a kindergarten through grade 12
1.7          public school that is being held at a facility that is funded, constructed, or maintained using
1.8          at least 75 percent public funding. Events may include but are not limited to school athletic
1.9          events, school concerts, school spirit assemblies, other extracurricular activities or
1.10       competitions with student or public spectators, or any other kindergarten through grade 12
1.11       event in which students are participating. Nothing in this section prohibits voluntary
1.12       donations.
