Essay
Bill #38 Veterans Military Affairs and Finance bill
Pros and Cons
Pro: There are many different types of pros that come with this finance bill for people in the military. One source to look at is the bill itself with one of its authors Representative Jerry Newton, in the bill there are many different things that are going to help soldiers such as. Army Combat Fitness Test Field Houses, these are places that soldiers can get good and quality workouts. Not only that but “Holistic Health and Fitness” where soldiers can get better high benefits and other things of that nature. Author Senator Nicole L. Mitchell of bill #38 talks about what's in the bill and also states that the Minnesota GI Bill Program will give students who go to college part time the same amount of money as full time college students. As you can see there are many different pros about how this bill will over all affect soldiers who protect their country and why it's needed.
Con: When doing research on this bill, I will say it has been very hard trying to find lots of information on it especially the cons side. But one big con that I could see people finding with this bill is a waste of taxpayer money. One source where you can see this is in the bill itself when it says, it will give a Minnesota Military Museum at Camp Ripley that will cost $14,055,000. Now that's a lot of money just to go into a museum and I can understand how people may not want to have their tax dollars just going towards a museum. I mean sure it's a cool thing to have at camp Ripley, but I don't see that really benefiting the soldiers at hand in any way. One last con could be people are tired of spending this much money on the military and think it's just a waste. I have found sources that say, “people are tired of spending money on military weapons”. Now this bill is more of a finance aid bill, but I can still understand how people can get fed up with having their tax dollars always go to the military.
