One reason people should be required to have at least one or more domestic pets in their household such as a dog, cat, bird, rodent, fish, or turtle is because they help to decrease human stress levels. When you are stressed a hormone called cortisol is hired. By humans just petting an animal your cortisol levels are lowered while your hormone oxytocin is hired. Oxytocin is a hormone that makes people feel good. Another reason people should be required to have at least one or more domestic animals in a household is that they can help improve heart health and reduce blood pressure. They can also help decrease allergies and asthma in children. By decreasing your blood pressure you are also lowering your risk of having a heart disease. Having a pet also lowers your cholesterol levels and triglyceride levels which are also two causes of a risk of heart disease. “Pets and Heart Health.” Www.dignityhealth.org, www.dignityhealth.org/articles/pets-and-heart-health.
One last reason people should be required to have at least one or more domestic animals in the household is that they can help people with their social and emotional skills. They often help with social skills because often if you are walking your pet or have your pet outside people are going to come up to you and ask you about the pet you have with you. It helps with emotional skills by providing you support. Having pets also makes you more active and enables you to get more fresh air which makes humans more emotionally stable. One reason I don’t think people should have a domestic animal in every household is because some people don’t even know how to take care of themselves and adding an animal to take care of would make their lives more difficult. Pets and animals also cost money and some people are just barely able to live in their houses. Adding an animal to a home would make it more difficult for some people to live. Other people also neglect pets so the household would not be safe for an animal. People are also allergic to certain animals so it would put them in danger.
