In today's world, there is a debate around gun ownership and whether individuals should be able to have some types of guns. in the court case, worth v Harringtonban carry permits for 18 to 20-year-olds. I think that we need more information and training for the general public. That's why I believe that 18-year-olds should be allowed to have a permit to carry a pistol. At the age of 18, you gain the right to vote and enlist in the military if you can sign your life away to the army and shoot a lot more dangerous guns. I don't see why you can't carry a pistol.
If we let 18-year-olds apply for a carry permit then they will learn gun safety and responsibility at a young age. And possibly leading to fewer firearm deaths and violence and creating a culture of responsibility. Now that they are 18 they might be living on their own they might find themselves in a bad spot whats why I think that every adult should be able to protect themselves with a firearm and this age group makes up about 9% of the Minnesota population.
However, critics of lowering the age say that 18-year-olds are not as mature and lack good decision-making. They say that they are too emotionally and psychologically immature to handle a firearm. This might be true but I think the value of allowing 18-year-olds to have pistols with the right education outweighs the risks.
